Skoda India shook up the segment with the Rapid Rider and it instantly became the first choice for enthusiasts. Credit goes to the internationally awarded 1.0 TSI and the already ageing design which helped to keep the price low. But no sedan can match the value the Rapid is offering in its segment. Just to add another silver lining on the rather perfect package, Skoda has announced the Rapid AT and also started taking bookings for the same. You can book the Rapid AT online or from a Skoda dealership for Rs 25000.
The Skoda Rapid was available with manual only till now. As promised, Skoda has now brought in the Rapid AT and deliveries for the same will start from 18th September 2020. The Rapid AT will be powered by the same 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, but with a 6-speed AT instead of a 6-speed manual. The 6-speed automatic gearbox replaces the popular DSG offering but Skoda promises great experience and exemplary fuel economy. Skoda Rapid AT is claimed to deliver 16.24 km/l under standard conditions.

If we talk about figures, the Skoda Rapid AT gets a 999cc three-pot TSI direct-injection petrol engine which churns out 110PS at 5000-5500 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at 1750-4000 rpm. Skoda claims that the new 1.0-litre TSI engine offers 5% more power, 14% more torque and 9% more fuel efficiency over the older 1.6-litre MPI unit.
Mr Zac Hollis, Brand Director said, "SKODA AUTO India recently introduced the new RAPID TSI range of products that now boasts state of the art 1.0 Turbocharged Stratified Injection engine offering the best of both worlds: exceptional power output and excellent fuel economy. An overwhelming response from brand loyalists and auto enthusiasts from across the nation has obligated the Czech marque to push the yardstick further and introduce the convenience of an AT transmission across the RAPID TSI range, at a very competitive price point."

Skoda will soon reveal the pricing of the Rapid AT and we expect Skoda to price the Rapid AT Rs 70000 - 90000 more than the manual counterparts. Skoda will offer the AT option in higher trims only and it will be priced competitively in line with the rivals. The bookings for the Skoda Rapid AT are open now and buyers can book one from Skoda India website or from the nearest dealerships.
