Back in November 2021, Skoda unveiled its upcoming Slavia in the market before the official launch. The sedan is said to be the second product from the Skoda 2.0 project and will replace the existing Rapid in the market. Skoda Rapid has been in the market for more than 10 years and the sedan has its own fan following. To give the customers an idea about the looks and feel of the sedan, Slavia is arriving at every dealership by next month.
The sedan will not be available for sale as it is expected to be launched by March 2022. Once the sedan is officially launched in the market, the company will soon commence with its deliveries thereafter.
For now, the pre-bookings window is already opened and the sedan can be booked at just Rs 11,000 that is refundable. Skoda recently also announced that it has stopped manufacturing Rapid.
Skoda Slavia is also built on the MQB AO IN platform used in Kushaq and Taigun. Even the specifications are quite similar to each other. Slavia will also come in two petrol engine choices, 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI powerful engines.
The sedan will come mated to a six-speed manual as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre and a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox will also be available as an option to choose from.
Skoda Slavia has been specially designed only for India. The sedan will compete against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Though if someone is planning for a diesel sedan then Slavia is the wrong choice to go for as it will also not be available with diesel engines. The company, while adapting the BS6 norms, planned to stop the production of diesel engines and only produce powerful petrol machines.
