It has been more than a year since the launch of the all-new Tata Harrier in the Indian market. Tata will finally offer an automatic transmission option with the Harrier. The new feature will be available with the upcoming BS6 compliant Harrier that will be launched in the Indian market at the 2020 Auto Expo. Apart from the new transmission, there will be a lot of changes in the upcoming Harrier. We now have confirmed news on the Tata Harrier automatic variants as well.
As we all know, the biggest addition will be the 6-speed automatic transmission, in addition to the engine being BS6 compliant and putting out higher power and torque figures. The transmission is already available with the Tata Hexa. According to an official comment by Tata Motors, here are the Tata Harrier automatic variants : mid spec XMA, XZA and range topping XZA+. The Harrier's top-end variant, XZ is currently one of the best-selling variants in the market. The XZA+ is likely to come with a sunroof.
Tata Harrier is currently powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine option that also powers other vehicles in the Indian market including the Jeep Compass and the MG Hector. Currently, the engine produces a maximum of 140 PS but with the updated BS6 version, it will produce 170 PS of maximum power. The torque output of 350 Nm will remain the same. The Harrier will continue to offer the 6-speed manual transmission.
Tata will also update the Harrier and will add new features to the car to keep it fresh in the market. On the outside, it will get new 18-inch alloy wheels, which will make the car look much more premium. Also, there will be a panoramic sunroof on the upcoming Harrier, reserved for the XZA+ variant. Currently, there is no factory-fitted sunroof option available with the Harrier. Tata has released a number of teaser videos and they show that the car will also get an electrically-adjustable driver seat option. The dashboard and other features are likely to remain the same.
The Tata Harrier takes on the likes of MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian market. The car also takes on the likes of Kia Seltos and Jeep Compass. With the new features, the Harrier is expected to go up on the sales chart. With Tata Harrier automatic variants now out, the only thing we need to know is the pricing - the figures might be out at the 2020 Auto Expo.
