Tata Harrier EV - What To Expect?
The heavily camouflaged test car spotted at a hotel parking shows that the Harrier.ev will be identical to its ICE version. However, the subtle EV-oriented changes like an aerodynamic front design, different alloy wheels, etc. will differentiate it from the standard Harrier. Moreover, the spy shots have revealed that it'll get a rear-mounted electric motor. This means that the Harrier.ev will be a rear-wheel-driven car. Also, the online rumours hinting towards an AWD powertrain also seem to be true after watching these photos.
Tata has designed the electric Harrier on its Acti.ev platform. This architecture made its debut earlier this year on the Punch.ev. It is a specially designed platform for electric SUVs by Tata. Some of the upcoming models that'll use it include the Curvv.ev & Safari.ev. The Harrier will get the rear-wheel drivetrain to offer quick performance on the hills and inclines. Maybe that's what is being tested currently in the Ladakh region, where the test car is spotted.
Similar to the exteriors, the interiors will also look identical to the standard Harrier. The subtle EV changes will include a light colour theme, a bigger 12.3-inch floating screen, ventilated and powered front seats, etc. Tata might offer a few more connected features on it to set it apart from the ICE version.
Currently, the battery and electric motor details are unknown, but, we expect that it'll deliver a range of more than 500 km on a single charge. Also, the AWD option will be included as a standard fitment on it. The Harrier.ev is planned to be launched by the end of this fiscal year i.e. before March'25. Its pricing could be somewhere around Rs 30 lakh while it aims to rival the upcoming Mahindra BE.09 EV.
