Tata Harrier Petrol & Safari Petrol Debut By 2025?
So, during the price reveal of the new facelifted models of Harrier & Safari, it was officially announced that these will get petrol engines. Additionally, Mr. Sailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors, announced that the engine is in the development phase. It'll be the same engine which was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo'23. It's a 1.5-lt turbo-petrol TGDi unit which shall make one of the peak power figures in its category. But, there are some issues which Tata seems to be struggling to rectify for now. Once the calibration is done, the petrol models will launch. Speaking on the timeline, Mr. Chandra said that it could possibly take a year or more.
The growing popularity of the petrol engine market is undeniable even by Tata itself. Tata knows the potential of petrol SUV buyers which just keeps on increasing. On the other hand, the EV versions of these models shall launch soon. As per officials, the Harrier EV & Safari EV will debut before their petrol iterations. This is due to the less complexity of technicals involved in the development. Also, Tata is already one of the best in the EV sales of cars in India. Hence, introducing the EV models will prove to be equally beneficial. Last but not least, the debut of the 1.5-lt TGDi petrol engine might happen via the launch of the Curvv SUV.
Verdict
Tata is one of the leading OEMs in India. All thanks to the revised product & marketing makeover, the brand is selling good volume of vehicles. With the facelifted Harrier & Safari, this sales is only bound to grow. However, the sore missing of petrol engine shall remain a hiccup for some buyers for a year or more.
