The production of the upcoming micro SUV, Tata HBX has commenced. As per the reports, the first batch of HBX is ready. This micro SUV will rival the likes of the already popular Maruti Ignis as well as the upcoming Hyundai Casper.
Sharing the mechanical details first then we expect that the HBX will be powered by the same 1.2L, naturally aspirated petrol engine as seen on the Tiago as well as the Altroz. This three-cylinder unit churns out 84 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed stick shift will come as standard along with an optional AMT.
Tata might also bring the more powerful 1.2L-turbo petrol that is seen on the Altroz i-Turbo. This unit pumps out 108 bhp with 140 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual transmission will be observed with this one. We believe that with Hyundai launching 1.0L turbo petrol with the Casper, the i-Turbo with the HBX will be the right choice by Tata Motors.
Tata HBX is expected to get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice command, centre armrest, multi-function steering wheel, dual-tone black and grey interior colour scheme, automatic climate control, cooled glove box etc. Do expect a handsome Global NCAP rating since most of the Tata cars shine in this department.
