Both the eC3 as well as the Punch EV will sport the same body styling, i.e. an uplifted hatchback stance with high ground clearance. While the eC3 gets a 29.2 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 320 kilometres, the Punch EV will likely get two battery pack options, based on what we have seen in the brand's latest EVs. One will be a 24 kWh battery, which will be a straight lift from the Tiago EV. While the higher-spec version will pack a capacity of around 30 kWh translating into a claimed range of anywhere between 300-370 kilometres. The power output figures will be at par with Tiago EV's 74 bhp/114 Nm for the lower spec, while the long-range version will definitely pack more punch.
Talking about the underpinnings, the Punch EV will be based on the brand's EV-specific Sigma architecture, which is a modified version of the ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible & Advanced) platform which underpins the regular petrol-powered Punch.

Verdict: Upon the launch, the Tata Punch EV will give a strong competition to the Citroen eC3. Banking on the advantage of Tata Motor's widespread sales and service network coupled with the customer trust that the brand has garnered over the years, specifically in the EV segment, the Punch EV will have its own set of advantages. On the other hand, the eC3 is no less with its quirky design, sound powertrain setup and the its image as a premium brand. However, the elephant in the room is the final pricing of the products, which at large will decide their fate in the Indian market.
