Tata has achieved the best-selling EV car tag with the Nexon EV crossing a sales mark of more than 13,500 units. We discuss the 5 reasons why is it so popular?
Launched back in January 2020, the Tata Nexon EV has now become the bestselling all-electric vehicle in the country. With more than 13,500 Nexon EV cars running all over the country it is undoubtedly proven to be a game-changer for Tata.
But what is it that makes the Nexon EV so popular? Here are 5 reasons that we think are behind its back for popularity.
1) Affordability
A price tag of Rs 14.29-16.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom) is not just mouth-watering but also affordable to most EV buyers. Due to being an all-electric car, Nexon EV also comes with a government subsidy which helps in shovelling off a few lakhs above the sticker price. No hefty RTO charges & fewer insurance charges make it a user-friendly car to buy. Low sticker price has made it the most affordable EV SUV in the country.
2) SUV Stance
Nexon EV is not just the only electric car available at this price; it is a compact SUV that is already a hot-selling segment in our country. SUV stance means this electric vehicle can tackle most of the undulations with ease. High-speed breakers & deep potholes are not to be much worried about with the Tata Nexon EV. This makes it a very good city commute car.
3) Service & Spares Availability
Sales of Tata Nexon EV have also been good because of the Tata brand tag. A large number of dealerships spread throughout the country & relatively easy availability of spare parts for Nexon is another reason the EV buyers get attracted towards it. Widespread network equated to fewer ownership hassles which every buyer caters to.
4) Safety
Tata's safety game has made them the number two selling brand in the Indian automotive industry. A wide fleet of cars that have successfully won the heart of Indian customers by undergoing G-NCAP ratings & scoring a complete 5, has incorporated courage among new EV buyers. Safety is the first priority of the new generation of buyers which has been well reflected through the sales from Tata. 5-star G-NCAP rating is one of the main reasons behind the skyrocketing sales of Nexon EV.
5) Fewer Options
As most of the competitors are still struggling with internal combustion engines or bi-fuel options such as CNG, Tata has made the brave move of stepping into the EV segment. Lack of rivalry has made the Nexon EV a star among the newborn segment. The only car that can compete with Nexon EV is the MG ZS EV which is an Astor based compact SUV. Due to the lacklustre of MG brand & high price tag, Nexon EV enjoys the monopoly in this segment.
