Tata Safari is a successful 7-seater SUV and when the new model was launched, it grabbed the eyeballs immediately. The carmaker also brought in the Adventure Persona variant for those seeking the thrill in life. Similarly, we have brought in several aftermarket modifications related to Tata Safari. Now, what if Tata brings a convertible version for the Safari? Sounds odd? Well, it shouldn't. It is because the Safari shares the same DNA as the Land Rover and we have already seen the Evoque convertible. But Evoque makes sense with the Harrier, right?
Technically, yes. But in this rendered image, the convertible Tata Safari only sports 4 seats and the design has been laid out flawlessly. Tata's IMPACT 2.0 Design Philosophy works in favour of the convertible Safari and gives it a unique look.
The gloss black treatment on the grille, badging, headlight panels, ORVMs, door handles, wheel arch cladding just looks fine. At the rear, the same treatment is observed on the badge, reflectors, diffuser and the chrome strip connecting the taillights.

While the convertible version pleases the eye, however, it will never be in the production form. What might come is the AWD version if not the 4x4 for the Safari. Several spy shots for the same has been caught on the Indian roads and we can expect it to be launched by next year.
Mechanically, Tata Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, BS6 compliant turbocharged diesel motor. This oil burner churns out 170 PS at 3750 RPM with a peak torque of 350 Nm at 1750 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed stick shift and an optional 6-speed torque converter unit. The ARAI certified mileage for the manual sticks to 16.14 kmpl while the AT gets 14.08 kmpl.
