The Epic and Epic Black of Toyota Fortuner is based on the BS6 compliant 2.8L diesel engine. Please note, it only gets cosmetic changes and nothing is changed under the hood.
For starters, the front of the Fortuner gets 'Epic' nudge bar with the branding on it and a tow bar at the rear profile. For those seeking the Epic Black Edition then it gets blacked-out treatment on the roof, ORVMs, Nudge Bar and will sport new alloy wheel design too.
Sharing more details on the inside then it gets floor mats with 'Epic' branding and metallic scuff plates. Rest all remains the same as the automatic climate control, powered driver's seat, touchscreen infotainment system and among other features.

Both the Epic and Epic Black Edition are reserved for the top-spec 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. But again, this is launched in South Africa and there the Fortuner is also available with the 2.4L diesel engine, the same which we see in the Innova Crysta.
The 2.8L diesel engine churns out 177 PS of power with a peak torque of 450 Nm. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AT. It is available in both RWD and 4WD mode. It is not sure if Toyota will launch the Epic edition in the petrol engine or not.
If launched, the prices of the Epic Edition might see a higher-end over its current counterparts. Currently, Toyota Fortuner retails at Rs 28.2 lakh and the top-model fetches till Rs 33.97 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It rivals with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Honda CR-V.
