Recently, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki introduced their hybrid SUVs in India. The platforms, engines, and features of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUVs are identical. Starting at Rs. 10.48 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hyryder's price ranges to Rs. 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Grand Vitara has a starting price of Rs. 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs (ex-showroom). Toyota Hyryder vs Maruti Grand Vitara - Engine Options
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder & Maruti Grand Vitara both comes with a 1.5-litre Smart-Hybrid Petrol engine. This engine is able to produce power of 102 bhp and peak torque of 136.8 Nm. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The other engine option available is the 1.5-litre Strong Hybrid engine. This engine comprises of an electric motor and engine power which makes a combined power of 114 bhp and peak torque of 141 Nm. This engine is mated with a e-CVT transmission.

Toyota Hyryder vs Maruti Grand Vitara - Variants
The Neo Drive & Hybrid are the Urban Cruiser Hyryder's two primary variants available. While the Hybrid comes in S, G, and V, the Neo Drive variants are available in four trim levels: E, S, G, and V. The Neo Drive variant's V trim also offers an AWD option.
Four smart hybrid and two strong hybrid variants of the Maruti Grand Vitara are available. The Zeta+ & Alpha+ are the strong hybrid variants, whereas the Sigma, Delta, Zeta, & Alpha are smart-hybrid variants. The smart hybrid powertrain's Alpha variant also offers an AWD option.

The advantage here with Maruti Suzuki is that all Grand Vitara variants, from the base to the top-spec, are available for subscription. Toyota, on the other hand, only provides the top-spec Neo Drive powertrain variant and all three Hybrid powertrain variants via subscription.
Verdict: Maruti Suzuki currently has the advantage in the subscription segment. The brand offers all available options of Grand Vitara for subscription, and its costs are lower than Toyota's.
