Toyota Innova Hycross Launched: Powertrain Details
The Toyota Innova Hycross is available in two powertrain options. The 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol puts out 172 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque, mated with a CVT gearbox. In its strong hybrid guise, the MPV draws power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which runs on the Atkinson cycle and it comes paired with the brand's fifth-gen strong hybrid system. The combined power output from the system is rated at 186 bhp and 206 Nm of peak torque and the power is channelled to the front wheels using an e-Drive transmission. Unlike the Innova Crysta, the new MPV skips a diesel engine option and is based on a monocoque construction.
Verdict: The Toyota Innova Hycross is quite a drift from the current-gen Innova Crysta. Not just in terms of mechanicals with its front wheel drive system, monocoque chassis and petrol-only powertrain, but the fact that it comes loaded with an array of creature comforts, making it more inclined towards urban buyers who are looking to add a luxurious MPV in their garage.
