Toyota has unveiled a new mid-size SUV Concept that is set to join the brand's upcoming BEV lineup. Named the SUV Concept, it shares its DNA with the recently revealed Maruti Suzuki eVX. The production for the Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to commence in the coming year. This is in continuation with the sharing of portfolios between both auto giants.
Let's jump into the details of what the concept showcases.
Toyota SUV Concept: Maruti EVX In Rebranding
The upcoming electric SUV from Toyota, part of its BEV lineup, will closely match the dimensions of the Maruti Suzuki eVX. With a length of 4,300mm, width of 1,820mm, height of 1,620mm, and a wheelbase of 2,700mm, the SUV Concept maintains a compact yet spacious design. Noteworthy features include a bold and upright stance, full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a front fender-mounted charging flap, and robust plastic cladding.

The rear design of the Concept electric SUV by Toyota features distinctive elements, including a split roof-mounted spoiler, a C-pillar hinged door handle, and LED tail lamps connected by an illuminated stripe. Set to be available in the market in the coming years, the e-SUV will come with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, providing flexibility and options for consumers.
Features
Moreover, going by the espy shots of Maruti EVX, the Toyota SUV is poised to get some advanced features inside as well. The interior of the Toyota SUV Concept is anticipated to feature a sophisticated dual-screen setup, comprising digital clusters and an infotainment system, each measuring around 10 inches. The exterior spy shots of the Maruti Electric Vehicle (EV) SUV have revealed a distinctive feature: ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) equipped with a bump, suggesting the possible inclusion of a 360-degree camera system.
However, The Maruti Invicto was the rolling stone for shared vehicles having different features, don't be surprised if the same happens with this one as well. As we know that this is something that is now on the table.
Powertrain: What To Expect
Toyota has not disclosed specific details about the SUV Concept's specifications. However, it is anticipated to be equipped with a 60kWh battery pack, providing an estimated driving range of 550km. This is in line with the battery and range specs of the Maruti counterpart, which is essentially the exact replica, but a rebranded version of each other.
The electric SUVs are poised to launch towards the end of 2024 or in early 2025.
Verdict
As some manufacturers strive to enter the electric vehicle (EV) space, others are focused on continuous evolution. Toyota, a brand with a strong reputation, is poised to make a significant impact despite being relatively late to the electric vehicle party. While the market share of electric cars is expected to grow in the meantime, presenting opportunities for adaptability, the evolving landscape also poses challenges as the standards in the electric vehicle segment continue to rise.
