Toyota Urban Cruiser a.k.a the rebadged Maruti Brezza is in the Indian market for quite some time now and with the homologation process, Toyota is finding its way into the smaller car market. Both the carmaker are getting benefitted from this partnership and in the coming future, we will also see a rebadged version of Ciaz and Ertiga as well. Now, let's get back to the pros and cons of the Toyota Urban Cruiser
Pros
Refined and a reliable petrol motor
There is no shred of doubt that the 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, a four-cylinder petrol engine is one of the best out there. It might not be that powerful in terms of paper but when you are behind the wheel, it cruises well on the highways as well is easier for the city drives.

This unit generates 103 bhp at 6000 RPM with a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4400 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and an optional 4-speed torque converter.
Good Mileage
If you are someone who is buying a Toyota for their mileage then chances are you will be in for a surprise. And that is what the Urban Cruiser promises to you. For the manual, the ARAI certified mileage sticks to 17.03 kmpl while the automatic delivers more at 18.76 kmpl.
Additional Warranty
Toyota is providing 3 years or 1 lakh km warranty on the Urban Cruiser where its sibling Brezza only gets 2 years or 40,000 km warranty. In a way, the reliability of Toyota is widely popular across the world and so is the aftersales. Additionally, there won't be any spare part availability at all since it shares everything with the Brezza.
Feature Loaded
Consider the Urban Cruiser as a premium version of the Brezza since it provides all the basic features right from its base, Mid, variant. Feature-wise, it is similarly equipped with the Brezza and the variants are derived from VXI, ZXI and ZXI+.
Cons
Lack of features
An electric sunroof, ventilated seats, larger touchscreen, wireless projection of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, electrically adjustable driver seat are some of the features which are found in the competition. So the Urban Cruiser provides you features but is not the hot kid in the town at all. It is more like an old school SUV.

No Diesel Engine
While other carmakers have a diesel engine as an option, the Urban Cruiser is thriving on just a petrol mode only. There are reports that Maruti is working on the updated BS6 compliant 1.5L DDiS unit and will launch in Brezza by early 2022. So if that happens then we will see the same in Urban Cruiser too.
Looks exactly the same as Maruti Brezza
At first glance, both SUVs look the same. Apart from the tweaked bumper and grille design, there is nothing much changed. Sure, there is rebadging but it is just not convincing enough. We expect that with the upcoming Belta, the Ciaz sibling from Toyota, there are some changes which can be expected on the exteriors.
