People have been curious about how the Urban Cruiser HyRyder differs from the standard urban cruiser ever since it was unveiled. Here is our post on how Toyota India's newest product differs from its sub-four-meter offering: Urban Cruiser vs Urban Cruiser HyRyder.

While the names are similar, the standard Urban Cruiser is a sub-4m SUV that is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The HyRyder, on the other hand, was designed from the ground up by Toyota in collaboration with Suzuki.

Powertrain
While the K15C engine used in the HyRyder for its neodrive trims is the same unit that will be shared with the Urban Cruiser facelift, unlike its sub 4m namesake, the HyRyder will get the option of AWD too. This will make the HyRyder the only SUV in its segment to get AWD.
Also, the HyRyder will also get a strong hybrid engine. In terms of tech, this engine will be like the hybrid engines sold by Toyota in global markets. The combined power output for this engine is rated at 116 PS. This engine will be mated only to an E-CVT gearbox. This gearbox is like the one used on the Honda City E: HEV.
Features and Interior
The HyRyder is expected to be a much more premium vehicle than the sub-4m Urban Cruiser with which it shares the name. The HyRyder will be getting features such as a huge panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and a digital gauge cluster which will be absent from the smaller Urban Cruiser.

Pricing and Competition
The HyRyder is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 13-20 lakhs (ex-showroom). This would pit it against the likes of VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, etc. However, its biggest competitor will be Korean siblings - Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The HyRyder along with its Suzuki counterpart will be out to challenge the supremacy of Creta and Seltos.
