Royal Enfield Electric Bike: What To Expect?
As evident via the design patent image, the first electric bike of RE will be based on a neo-retro design. Codenamed 'Electrick01', this upcoming bike has a unique design as the frame loops over its fuel tank area. Also, the single seat mimics the design of a bobber bike. Another interesting design detail is the girder forks at the front that were usually seen on the early 1920s bikes. Therefore, it appears that Royal Enfield will stick to its retro design language, rather than opting for a futuristic design.
Royal Enfield has developed a new L-platform that is likely to endorse a range of upcoming electric motorcycles. Additionally, the retro theme will continue attracting cult-based customers, even for the e-bikes. The big battery pack placed underneath the seat will generate good power and torque figures, and hence, we expect a range of more than 300 km from this bike.
At the EICMA motor show in 2023, Royal Enfield showcased an electric Himalayan prototype. Called 'Him-E', this prototype attracted a lot of audience due to its probability of hitting production soon. However, with the latest design patent leak, we assume that RE will introduce the 'Electrick01' in the market initially. The plan is to debut the first e-bike in 2026, and yes it will come to India as well.
