With design cues from the Tata Curvv and the Harrier EV, it comes across as a remarkable update. At first glance, the refreshed Nexon exhibits a more upright and square appearance. In a departure from the norm for facelifts, which typically involve minor cosmetic adjustments, Tata Motors appears to have incorporated modifications to the sheet metal itself. In fact, when observed head-on, the revamped SUV presents an entirely distinct model, with little to no recognizable aesthetic elements.

The redesigned bonnet and front fender of the updated Nexon accommodate the new split headlamp setup. The SUV features a new prominent LED Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) signature, a slim LED band positioned high on the face with sequential lighting elements, seamlessly merging with the slimmer grille. The lower front bumper appears wider and taller, housing the main headlamp cluster and fog lamps within distinct C-shaped protrusions, adding depth and visual weight, while trapezoid-like housings offer a contrast with a blacked-out finish. Notably, the signature Y-shaped design motifs of the Nexon have been completely replaced.

Rear Styling

The rear section has undergone a significant transformation. Notably, the C-shaped protrusions, mirroring those at the front, now house the reflectors and now extends toward the edges. This design choice contributes to an optical illusion of a wider stance for the SUV. Departing from the design of the current Nexon, the rear adopts a flatter profile. The tail-lamp assembly now takes the form of a continuous LED light bar that spans the width of the SUV.

Enhancing the aesthetics further is a freshly styled roof-mounted spoiler, creating a subtle wraparound effect. Meanwhile, the rear wiper is neatly tucked under the spoiler, a design reminiscent of the approach seen on the Hyundai Tucson. Also, you can notice the new star-shaped alloy wheel design on the facelift version.

Interior Upgrades And Powertrain

The Nexon facelift's interior updates mirror the comprehensive changes seen on the exterior. The previous spy shots suggest a complete overhaul of the dashboard. Anticipated updates include a larger touchscreen, a novel touch-based central control panel, a new digital instrument cluster, and a redesigned backlit, two-spoke steering wheel.

The Nexon facelift is likely to retain its current engine offerings. This includes the 120hp, 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and the 115hp, 1.5-liter diesel engine, with manual or AMT transmissions. Also, a DCT gearbox option is also on cards, as clear from earlier spy shots.

Launch And Rivals

The launch of the Tata Nexon is just around the corner and could debut anytime around mid-September. It will continue to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and the KIA Sonet.
