Upcoming Toyota HyRyder SUV will debut globally in June. The new hybrid SUV is being developed with Maruti Suzuki; it'll rival Creta and Seltos.
Toyota has been developing a new mid-size SUV under the codename of D22. We've already broken the story of the first test mules spied over the road, which you can read here. According to the news reports published over the internet, Toyota HyRyder is the newly registered name for this upcoming SUV.

As we know, Toyota & Maruti are cumulatively building a new platform for a mid-size SUV. While Maruti calls it with codename YFG; Toyota's codenamed D22 is now registered in India. The HyRyder SUV is all set for a debut in the upcoming month of June. Once the car is launched, it will directly compete with the rivals as such Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos, VW Tiagun, & Skoda Kushaq.
It is also widely anticipated that the upcoming HyRyder SUV will be heavily localized. The high level of localization will help Toyota to keep the price tag competitive. Also, the engine powertrain is said to be extensively localized as well & it will feature a self-charging hybrid (SHEV) system. This hybrid system is similar to the one seen in the Toyota Camry & Toyota Vellfire. Toyota claims that their smart hybrid tech will assist the car to run 60 percent of the time on electric mode only. Also, this technology is claimed to increase the fuel economy of the petrol engine by 40 to 80 percent.

Toyota might feature its 1.5-litre petrol engine in the new HyRyder. Contrary, the Maruti's sibling car will also share the majority of the technical components. This will help reduce the construction costs involved. Additionally, the shared components mean that the spare parts will also be shared. Hence, the spare parts costs will also be reasonable. With the entry of two new Japanese SUVs, the segment is deemed to become more interesting soon.
