The Volkswagen Tiguan facelift is all set to be introduced in the Indian market on 7th December 2021. The car will be positioned below the VW Tiguan All-Space in the brand's line-up. Exterior Design
The new Tiguan now gets a more aggressive and stylish front fascia that is largely dominated by a new grille design and sharp headlight design. The SUV also boasts a bold and dominating design with sharp cuts and creases. Other changes include new alloy wheels, new LED taillights, a revised rear bumper design, and a more elegant rear design. The build quality too will be great and better than many other rivals.

Interiors
The new Tiguan facelift will come with a revised interior design. To start with, the car gets a new flat-bottom leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, premium Vienna leather seats, illuminated scuff plates, chrome elements, and 30 shades of ambient lighting. Apart from that, the car also gets an illuminated gear knob. Needless to say, the fit and finish levels too are expected to be better than many other rivals. The SUV also offers high-seating that will improve the ingress and egress. The second row in the car will also offer sliding rails to help the rear passengers find a comofrtable seating position.
Features
For starters, the new VW Tiguan gets a large touchscreen infotainment system that is expected to feature modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth. Apart from that, the new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift will also get other features like automatic climate control, 30 shades ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, cooled glovebox, steering mounted controls, rear AC vents, head-up display, digital instrument console and many other features to help it give a tough competition to the rivals.

Engine, Gearbox, and Performance
Powering the Tiguan will be a 2.0-L TSI turbocharged petrol engine that will deliver a maximum power and torque output of 190hp and 320Nm respectively. This engine does duty in the Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Superb and will replace the older 2.0-L TDI engine. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox comes mated to this engine while the car will also offer VW's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as standard. The performance from this motor is impressive and so are the refinement levels.
Safety
On the safety front, the VW Tiguan comes with features like six airbags, ABS, ESP, hill start assist, hill descent assist, and tyre pressure monitor system in addition to other features like ISOFIX mounts and a driver alert system as a standard part of the segment. Other features will also include seat belt reminders speed alerts, rear parking sensors, and rear camera.

Launch Date
The car is all set to launch on 7 December 2021 and will be brought into the country via the CBU route to keep the costs competitive. This also means that the new Tiguan will be assembled locally in the brand's manufacturing facilities in India.
Expected Price
The new Volkswagen Tiguan price is expected to start from INR 26-27 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant while the range topping trim may get a price tag of around INR 30 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand plans to price the new Tiguan aggressively to make it a VFM product that gives strong competition to other SUVs in this segment.

Rivals
Once launched, the new Volkswagen facelift will rival the cars like the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 aircross and other premium SUVs currently on sale in the country. The car however will miss out on a diesel engine and hence the rivals like the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson will have an upper hand in this competition.
Digital Connectivity
Just like many other new offerings in the brand's line-up here in India, the new VW Tiguan will also feature connected-car tech that will help the owners access all the information related to the car via the official mobile phone application. By doing this, the owners will not only be able to see important data but can also use features like geo-fencing, tracking, etc. Apart from that, the car will also offer features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, etc.

5-Seater Version
The new VW Tiguan facelift will offer a five-seat configuration and will feature a comfortable and spacious cabin.
