Earlier, before buying any car, Indians used to ask, "Kitna deti hai?" to inquire about its fuel efficiency. However, now, thanks to Tata, this question has changed. People now ask, "How safe is it?" or "How many stars has it achieved in a crash test?" This is a great shift, as people are prioritizing safety over mileage. Due to the negative publicity on social media, even the Maruti Alto K10 now comes with 6 airbags as standard, and offering this many airbags has become a regular practice in India. However, several cars offer 7 airbags in India, and we are here to tell you about them. Let's take a look at them below. Tata Harrier/Safari

Tata Harrier is a C-segment front-wheel-drive SUV with 7 airbags on offer. However, it is only available in the top trim called Fearless +, which starts at Rs 23.34 lakh for the 6-speed MT. Before that, all variants get 6 airbags (Driver, Co-driver, Side & Curtain Airbags). In the Fearless +, Tata adds one more towards the driver-side knees, which takes the total number to 7. Apart from this, the Harrier itself is a robust car built on the OmegaArc platform and has scored 5 stars in crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP.

Same goes for the 7-seater Safari, which offers 7 airbags from the Accomplished variant, and the ex-showroom price of that is Rs 23.84 lakh. The grandeur of the Safari is the reason why it sells better than the Harrier. Plus, the option of 3rd-row seating is just a win-win situation for people.
Mahindra XUV700

The XUV700, the second-best selling Mahindra car, offers 7 airbags in the top variant, AX7 Luxury Pack, with the 7th airbag placed to protect the driver's knees. The pricing of this variant starts at Rs 22.98 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 25.73 lakh. Additionally, customers can choose between both petrol and diesel engines, in both manual and automatic transmissions, but petrol manual is not an option here. Lastly, XUV700 has also achieved 5-star saftey rating in Global NCAP.
Toyota Innova Crysta

The Innova Crysta, which takes India from one place to another in the most comfortable manner, is equipped with 7 airbags, but only in the top 2 variants - VX and ZX. Other variants like G, GX, and GX+ only come with 3 airbags. The VX costs Rs 25.14 lakh, and the ZX costs Rs 26.82 lakh. The only engine available with this car is the 2.4L diesel, making 150 ps and 343 Nm of torque, and the only gearbox option is a 5-speed manual transmission. Surprisingly, the Innova Hycross doesn't offer 7 airbags, but only 6.
Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner, by far the most desirable vehicle in India, also comes standard with 7 airbags, available in all variants. This true SUV is currently in its 2nd generation and now feels dated, as this model is almost 8 years old and continues with the same specifications. It is available with both petrol and diesel engines, but in India, 90% of people choose the diesel version because of its decent fuel efficiency. Apart from this, there is no crash test or safety rating available, but it goes without saying that this SUV is one of the safest vehicles to buy today.

Verdict
So, these are the 5 most popular cars in India that offer 7 airbags, with the Fortuner being the anomaly, as all its variants get 7 airbags, unlike other cars where it is available only in the top-spec trims. Apart from the airbags, the car's build quality matters most, as the impact is absorbed by the car first, with the airbags coming into play afterward. These cars stand tall on that parameter too.
