Small dimensions makes it easily maneuverable in city traffic and tight parking
The interior space is well managed with flat front area and plenty of utility spaces

It comes with a decent number of features such as LED lighting, touchscreen infotainment, keyless entry, rear parking camera, folding rear seat among other
The interior fit and finish looks premium like other MG cars
Full with tech features such as wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, no button vehicle start system, digital key, iSmart features etc.
A lot of customization options from the OEM
What could have been better
Due to its compact dimensions and limited interior space, it is not suitable as a primary car
The unconventional design may not appeal to everyone's taste
Primarily designed for city use, it has a restricted range and is not ideal for extended highway journeys
Strictly a 4-seater car
Lacks DC or fast charging support, resulting in an approximate charging time of 7 hours
With a modest 41 bhp power output, the driving experience may not be particularly fun to drive

Notable omissions in features, including a rear wiper and washer, seat height adjustment, and spare wheel
Should I buy the Comet EV?
If you're in search of a secondary family vehicle, especially for city commuting, the MG Comet EV presents itself as a viable choice. Its compact size makes it easy for manoeuvring in city traffic, and it provides a satisfactory range for daily city journeys. However, if your intention is to get an electric vehicle as your primary mode of transportation, capable of occasional highway travels, you might want to consider alternatives like the Tata Tiago EV or the Citroen eC3.
- The MG Comet EV is an unconventional car, unlike anything we've seen in the market before. Remarkably compact at a length of 2974mm, a width of 1505mm, providing ample space for two adults on the rear bench. MG offers vibrant color choices along with lively sticker kits, although the small 12-inch wheels may seem disproportionate for a tall hatchback.
- The front features a futuristic horizontal glass insert, a large windshield, and distinctive headlamps positioned on the lower part. The side profile highlights an increased glass area for second-row passengers, emphasizing that this is a 2-door hatchback, not a 4-door one. Moving to the back, an exciting horizontal LED bar and cute tail lamps on the lower side contribute to its unique look.
- Despite the small wheels, the MG Comet promises to be an ideal super compact urban car, suitable for navigating the narrowest lanes in metro cities.
- Entering the Comet is a straightforward process, and once inside, you'll appreciate the quality of materials and the airy ambiance, thanks to the large windows and tall height. A notable feature is the Comet's expansive 'twin' screen setup, a highlight of the interior.
- Following the trend of other MG cars, it comes equipped with a good list of features accessible through the MG Connect app suite. Both the charming drive mode controller and the steering wheel buttons evoke a sense of familiarity which looks similar to the Apple iPod, which we consider a positive aspect. The flat floor design also ensures ample leg space.
- Moving to the back, getting in is not a challenge, and the rear bench offers a reasonable amount of space. However, the drawback lies in the lack of features, including no AC vents, charging outlets, and fixed windows. Additionally, the boot space is minimal, and while MG mentions that this may not be a primary family car, having some boot space is always essential.
- From LED lights all around, the Comet boasts a keyless entry system. The package includes a fully digital cluster, power-adjustable outside mirrors, front power windows, a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, three USB ports with fast charging. Additionally, it incorporates MG’s I-Smart features, complete with over 30 commands in Hinglish.
- Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX seat points, and more. Overall, for a compact urban companion, this car is undeniably loaded with features.

| Wireless Charger | No |
| Ventilated Seats | No |
- The Comet is primarily designed for urban use and may not be the ideal choice for highway journeys. However, the claimed range of 230 km appears quite good for city driving but in real world it can give range up to 200 km. This range is achieved through a 17.3 kWh battery pack, which, surprisingly, does not support fast charging—a potential deal-breaker for many prospective buyers. Using a 3.3 kW charger, the battery requires up to 5 hours to reach a full 100% charge.
- Powering the Comet is an electric motor that delivers 42 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque, a torque figure comparable to that of the larger Tiago EV. The Comet EV also features various drive modes.
- The acceleration is good enough for city commutes, and the motor can efficiently handle brisk traffic even with a full load of four occupants and the air conditioning running.

Latest Updates on Comet EV
The 2025 MG Comet EV is launched in India with updated features and enhancements as part of its model-year refresh. The compact electric car now gets important new equipment such as a rear parking camera, electrically foldable outside rear-view mirrors and premium leatherette seats in select variants, elevating its comfort and convenience levels. The updated Comet EV also continues to offer a claimed range of around 230 km per charge.
The MG Comet Blackstorm is launched in India with ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 7.80 lakh, adding a sportier and more premium flavour to the entry-level Comet EV lineup. The Blackstorm edition features unique blacked-out design elements, exclusive alloy wheels and special interior accents, while retaining the Comet’s compact city-EV packaging and claimed range of around 230 km per charge. This variant aims to attract buyers seeking a more distinctive EV look without stepping up to a larger model.
The MG Comet EV receives a price increase of up to Rs 19,000 in India across select variants, making the compact electric model slightly more expensive than before. The price revision does not affect the Comet’s core specifications or range, and the EV continues with its practical city-friendly design and claimed efficiency, while the adjustment reflects routine updates to align pricing with costs.
The MG Comet EV and MG ZS EV are now offered under the BAAS (Battery as a Service) program in India, allowing buyers to purchase the vehicles with a separately priced battery to lower the upfront cost of the EV. Through BAAS, customers can choose from different battery subscription options, making the Comet EV and ZS EV more accessible while maintaining full electric driving range and performance. MG aims to broaden EV adoption by providing flexible ownership models that suit various budget and usage needs.
MG Hector, MG Astor, MG Gloster, MG ZS EV and MG Comet EV receive new accessories packages in India, expanding optional customisation for buyers across the brand’s SUV and EV lineup. The updates include sportier styling add-ons, premium mats, body-graphics kits, roof rails and tech upgrades depending on the model, giving customers more choices to personalise their vehicles. MG says these accessories are available at authorized dealerships and aim to enhance both aesthetic appeal and practicality for owners.
