KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Xtreme 250R was launched at the 2025 Auto Expo.
  • It shares its platform with the Karizma XMR, but bearing a new 250cc, liquid-cooled engine.

The Hero Xtreme 250R is the latest entrant in the 250cc segment, and it has generated quite a lot of interest around the 250cc segment. There was a lot of buzz and activity around Hero MotoCorp's stall at the 2025 Auto Expo, and the Xtreme 250R has certainly gained the attention of potential buyers.

Design

The Xtreme 250R bears a typical naked streetfighter design, with sharp, aggressively-designed panels and a muscular stance. It gets LED lighting all around, and based on first impressions, it looks and feels somewhat bigger than some of its rivals. The 17-inch wheels make use of thick rubber, further adding to the muscular stance, while the alloy rims and the golden USD forks look and feel quite premium as well.

The Xtreme 250R looks sharp from the rear as well, and it gets a tyre-hugger with space for a license plate, giving it a unique appearance. Overall, the Xtreme 250R makes use of modern design trends quite well, and ir should likely stand out on the road.

Engine And Hardware

The Xtreme 250R is based on the same platform as the Karizma XMR, bearing a trellis frame setup. It is powered by an all-new, liquid-cooled 250cc powertrain, which produces 29.5bhp at 8250rpm and 25Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. These figures make it marginally more powerful than the Suzuki Gixxer 250, the Bajaj Dominar 250, and the Bajaj Pulsar N250. The KTM 250 Duke is on-par with its output figures, and we have covered a detailed comparison elsewhere on our page.

The trellis frame is suspended on 43mm golden USD forks and a 6-step gas-charged monoshock with 6-step pre-load adjustability. In terms of braking, the Xtreme makes use of a 320mm petal disc with ByBre callipers up front, and a 230mm disc at the rear. Given the sporty image of this bike, we can expect the bike to come with good handling and a nice spread of torque, but we shall talk about those details with better clarity once we have ridden the motorcycle.

Features

Hero Xtreme 250R

In terms of equipment, the Xtreme 250R is probably among the most feature-loaded motorcycles in its segment. It shares the digital LCD screen from the Karizma XMR, which gets bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music streaming, lap timer, drag timer. Along with these things, you also get switchable dual-channel ABS and an automatic headlamp.

Verdict

The Xtreme 250R appears to be a promising naked streetfighter with its tasteful looks, premium quality hardware, an all-new powertrain, and a huge list of features available from Rs 1.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Rounding things off is Hero MotoCorps reliability, and the Xtreme 250R certainly makes an interesting case for itself, especially when compared to its rivals, some of which are not as well equipped.
