Yamaha launched the Yamaha R15 V4 back in September 2023. Introducing some major improvements, the 155cc beast became a popular choice among youngsters in a short period of time. The primary reason of the popularity of the Yamaha R15 are the sporty character and refined power supply it offers at an affordable price. After the launch of the new R15 V4 Edition, some crucial things have been changed. Though, mechanically it carries the same engine, but with a better state of tune. 1. Design
The newer Yamaha R15 V4 carries the same design aesthetic as its bigger siblings available internationally such as the YZF-R7. It no longer get dual LED headlamp setup on the front as now you get a single LED headlamp unit positioned at the centre which is surrounded by LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) from both sides. Other major cosmetic changes include an refreshed fairing on both sides, a new bigger wind-shield (Visor) and new seat with better padding. Now, the Japanese manufacture also offer a new R15 M edition that looks more sporty and gets some added racing centric features as well.
2. Features
In terms of features also, the new R15 V4 is a worthy step forward when compared to the outgoing model. Now, you get some bells and whistles such as a new digital TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. The new digital instrument cluster seems to be derived from the bigger Yamaha YZF-R1. Additional features on offer with the motorycle include a gear shifter indicator, slip and assist clutch and two riding modes- Track and street modes.
3. Hardware
There are some major improvements in the new R15 V4 in terms of hardware too. Now it features a traction control system with a quick shifter (selected trims) which really makes riding experience easy. Apart from this, now you get USD front forks, replacing the telescopic forks that used to be on offer with the outgoing model. The motorcycle gets the same mono-shock absorber at the rear. Also, there are disc brakes on both wheels and that too with dual channel ABS as a standard offering.

5. Yamaha R15 V4 Vs Yamaha R15 V3: Power
Mechanically, the new R15 V4 derives the same engine powerhouse that used be on offer with the previous gen model. It features a powerful 155cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces 18.4 bhp of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. The powerhouse on offer comes linked to a 6-speed gearbox. Other notable feature of the new R15 range is the Yamaha's patent Variable Actuation Technology.
6. Price
The older Yamaha R15 V3's last recorded price ranges between Rs. 1.57 lakh to 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the new Yamaha R15 V4 comes with starting price tag of Rs. 2.12 lakh, going up to Rs. 2.28 lakh (On-road, Delhi) for the top-end model.

Verdict
The Yamaha R15 V4 is a significant upgrade over the V3, offering enhanced features, modern hardware, and a sportier design. While it retains the same powerful engine, the addition of a TFT display, traction control, and quick shifter makes it more appealing. Despite the higher price, the V4 justifies its cost with these improvements, making it a better value proposition.
