Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a.k.a. Toyota India has launched the BS6-compliant version of the tenth-generation Camry Hybrid in India. The 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid BS6 has been launched in India amidst the third phase of the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus. The new BS6 Camry has been priced at Rs. 37.88 lakhs, Ex-showroom. It is around 93,000 rupees dearer than the outgoing BS4 model which was priced at Rs. 36.95 lakhs, Ex-showroom. So, let's now talk about the BS6-compliant Camry Hybrid.
The new 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid has only get mechanical changes to comply with the stricter BS6 emission norms. The Camry is a very interesting and eco-friendly car as it gets a hybrid system. Its powertrain consists of a petrol engine assisted by an electric motor. Under the hood, it gets a 2.5-litre hybrid system and this is the same powertrain that also powers the charming Lexus ES 300h in India.
The Camry gets a 2.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 178 PS of power and 221 Nm of torque. It is assisted by a 160kW electric motor that pumps out 120 PS of power and 202 Nm of torque. The combined power output of this powertrain system stands at 218 PS and it is coupled to a 7-speed e-CVT only. What's further interesting is that the Camry Hybrid can be driven in pure EV mode, in pure ICE mode like a regular car or even as a combination of both.
Talking about features, being a premium sedan, the 2020 Toyota Camry BS6 is loaded with features up to the brim. It gets a big touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets ventilated front seats with memory function for the driver's seat, power-reclining rear seats, powered rear sunshades, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a heads-up display, cruise control and Indian's favourite feature: an electric sunroof.
Being a Toyota, it is also loaded with a lot of safety equipment. The 2020 Toyota Camry BS6 gets nine airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with a rear parking camera, Isofix child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and an electric parking brake function. Lastly talking about colour options, the Camry Hybrid is offered in seven different colour shades: Burning Black, Attitude Black, Phantom Brown, Red Mica, Graphite Metallic Silver, Platinum White, and Platinum White Pearl.
The 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid BS6 has been launched in India at Rs. 37.88 lakhs, Ex-showroom and at this price its only rival is the upcoming Skoda Superb Facelift.
