Mahindra is testing 2021 XUV500 extensively across the length and breadth of India. Extensive testing brings out new spy shots every day and this one shows the new all-LED headlights of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500. The same headlight unit will make the way to production in the top variants. The lights are visible and inspired by the XUV300.
The test mule is wrapped in camouflage but the front headlights are visible revealing some key details. Mahindra has opted for the reflector-based all-LED headlights for the 2021 XUV500, at least for the top variants. However, the test mule seems to have halogen bulbs inside the cluster and not LEDs. The headlight unit gets a twin-pot design and the LED DRL is boomerang-shaped. As seen in the images, the boomerang-shaled DRLs also double-up as turn indicators. In between the headlights is the Cheetah- inspired grille used in many Mahindra SUVs. The grille will feature sharp chrome slats which mimic the teeth of a Cheetah.

Moreover, the design of the new 2021 XUV500 will be much sleeker than the outgoing one which comes with a bulbous design. The front profile will get extended LED headlights - similar to the XUV300, whereas the door handles will be flush-fitting. Mahindra will also improve the look and feel of side and rear profile by adding diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED taillights. Looking closely to the spy shot also reveals the presence of ADAS system which is covered by cloth lower on the bumper.

Some interior spy shots also revealed the twin-connected screens - one for the driver and other is the infotainment. We have seen a similar design in Mercedes cars and the 2021 XUV500 seems to draw inspiration from that. One more similarity is the presence of a rotary dial to control the infotainment system. Other features include a big panoramic sunroof, flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control and more.
Coming to the powertrain options, 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with the same engines we get with the Thar. A 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol will power the new XUV500 and higher trims will also come with automatic transmission and 4WD. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol will produce as high as 190hp and 400 Nm of torque, however, legitimate power figures of the diesel engine are not known yet. Mahindra is expected to launch the 2021 XUV500 sometime in the middle of the year 2021 and it will rival SUVs like the Tata Gravitas, upcoming Jeep Grand Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and more.
