In March 2018, TVS introduced the Race Edition 2.0 which got new graphics and a slipper-clutch. In late 2019, it got the BS6 update with some new features and in 2020, it got even more features, including a host of segment-first ones. So, today in this article, we will be sharing with you all the Pros and Cons of the new 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6.
2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6 Pros and Cons
PROS
Striking Looks and Colour Options
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a striking looking motorcycle. It has a sharp design language, gets an all-LED headlamp, LED DRLs and a LED taillamp. It features a sharp and aerodynamic side profile with attractive body decals. It gets tank extensions and an engine cowl too which further enhance its sporty appeal. Now, if we talk about the colour options, so the new Apache RTR 200 4V is available in three colour variants. They are Gloss Black, Pearl White and Matte Blue.
Loaded with a ton of Goodies
The new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is the most feature-loaded motorcycle in its segment. It gets an all-digital instrument cluster that displays a digital speedometer, odometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge, clock, gear-position indicator, etc. Moreover, it also gets the TVS' Smart Xonnect system that enables smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and features turn-by-turn navigation, shows race telemetry, etc. It even gets a dedicated 'i' button on the switchgear that is used to toggle through the information on the screen.
Decent Performance
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a BS6 compliant 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. This motor churns out 20.5 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 16.8 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. The mill comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It gets TVS' Race-Tuned (RT-FI) fuel-injection technology for enhanced power delivery and fuel economy. Moreover, it also gets GTT or Glide Through Technology feature for low-speed urban riding that offers an extremely smooth and controlled riding experience at slow speeds. The Apache RTR 200 4V now gets segment-first riding modes too. It gets three riding modes. They are Sport, Urban and Rain and a dedicated switch on the handlebar to change these modes. These new riding modes alter the engine characteristics, fuel-efficiency, throttle response and also the working of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) on the motorcycle.
Good Hardware
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V packs in good hardware. The motorcycle gets telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. What's interesting though is that it gets Showa forks at the front and they are even adjustable for pre-load. For braking duties, it gets petal disc brakes at both ends. At the front, it gets a 270 mm disc while at the rear one is a 240 mm unit. It also gets the option of single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS as an additional safety aid. It also gets adjustable brake and clutch levers.
Pricing
The price of the new 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6 ranges between Rs. 1.28 lakhs - Rs. 1.33 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. At this price point, it is a very good 200cc sports motorcycle and offers great value for your money.
CONS
Ergonomics
The Apache RTR 200 4V is a comfortable motorcycle. But, if you are a tall rider, you might feel your lower body posture to be cramped while riding for a long duration of time. That's because the footpegs of the motorcycle are rear-set and they are raised quite high which is a bit discomforting.
Lacks 6th Gear
The Apache RTR 200 4V is a phenomenal motorcycle and one can cover long journeys with it at ease. However, it gets a five-speed gearbox only and the addition of a sixth gear would have been certainly better for cruising at highway speeds for a long duration of time without stressing the motor.
Liquid Cooling and More Power will steal the deal
The Apache RTR 200 4V is decently powerful and it gets an oil-cooled motor. But, a bit of more power and the addition of a liquid-cooling system like the Pulsar NS 200 would have made it certainly better than ever before.
