Kia launched the Carens a few weeks ago and with its pricing, it took the market by storm. Available in multiple engine options, it caters to a lot of buyers. Its main rival, Maruti Ertiga saw a dip in sales figures, however, with the launch of the newer model, it is getting back into the game. As can be seen, the new Maruti Ertiga gets a 1.5L, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated DualJet petrol motor with mil-hybrid technology. It generates as much as 102 bhp of power with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. This motor is mated to a 5-speed stick shift as standard and also gets a 6-speed torque converter as an option. Compared to the older Ertiga, this new model makes less power and torque. The older one made 103 bhp power with 138 Nm of peak torque.

On the other hand, Kia Carens gets a 1.5L non-turbo petrol. This one produces 113 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 144 Nm. Both power and torque figures are higher than the 2022 Ertiga. However, the new Ertiga scores higher in terms of fuel economy. The claimed ARAI fuel economy of Maruti Ertiga sticks to 20.51 kmpl for the 5-speed manual and 20.3 kmpl for the 6-speed AT. The 1.5L unit of Kia Carens Carens delivers only 15.7 kmpl with the 6-speed MT. There is no option for the automatic with the 1.5L petrol. If you opt for the 1.4L turbo petrol then there's a 7-speed DCT as an option.
2022 Maruti Ertiga vs Kia Carens - 1.5L Petrol Variants and Price
The new 2022 Ertiga is available in four variants - LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. This MPV is priced from Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 12.79 lakh. On contrary, Kia Carens is available in two variants only - Premium and Prestige. Its priced from Rs 9.60 lakh to Rs 10.70 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
