Suzuki has finally launched the second-gen, 2022 Celerio in South Africa. This same model was launched in India a few months back, however, there are some features that are better in the South Africa specced model. In this article, we share the differences as well as the similarities between both models.
Powering the Celerio is the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, DualJet petrol engine. This unit produces as much as 66 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 89 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard along with an optional AMT unit.
To further save fuel, this motor is equipped with an idle start/stop function. The ARAI certified mileage of Celerio sticks to 25.24 kmpl for the manual and 26.68 for the AMT. One major advantage that the Indian market has is the availability of a factory-fitted CNG that is not present in the South African model.

Safety features on the new Celerio are dual airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminder, high-speed alert system, speed-sensing door lock, hill hold control for the AMT and more. These features are standard in both India as well as South African specced Celerio. However, the latter market also gets an electronic stability control which the Indian origin Celerio misses out on.
Feature-wise, Celerio gets all-four power windows, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, push-button start/stop, manual AC, electrically adjustable and retractable outside rearview mirrors, steering mounted controls and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for both the markets. However, the hatchback present in the African markets now gets a user interface similar to that seen on the recently launched Baleno's 9.0-inch touchscreen display.
