Toyota Kirloskar Motor is expected to launch the Hilux in May 2022 and the same has now been spotted at a dealership. This seems to be the top of the line High variant and the colour options that are spied are Red Metallic and Pearl White. The third shade for this trim is Silver Metallic and the base variant, Low gets two colour schemes - Super White and Grey Metallic.
Earlier, the Hilux was supposed to be launched in March, however, due to supply chain constraints, the product will now be brought in May. The bookings for this pick-up truck commenced in February at a premium of Rs 1 lakh, however, that was too halted temporarily due to the huge demand. The company says that they will resume the bookings soon.
Toyota Hilux pick-up truck is powered by a 2.8-litre, BS6 compliant diesel engine. It is the same unit as found in the Fortuner. This motor generates as much as 201 bhp of power on tap with a maximum torque of 420 Nm with the six-speed intelligent manual transmission. For people picking the 6-speed AT, the peak torque is higher at 500 Nm.

The one spotted at the dealership gets chrome treatment on the grille, outside rearview mirrors, door handles, rear bumper and the boot lid. Dimension-wise, Hilux measures 5,325 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,815 mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 3,085 mm.
Feature-wise, Toyota Hilux will be equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, wireless charging, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel with rake and reach adjustment, push-button start/stop and more.
Both the variants of the Hilux will be equipped with 4x4 as standard, an electronic differential lock, downhill assist control, auto limited-slip differential and a 4x4 electronic drive switch. It will also get Toyota's ATRAC system that basically observes the traction of the tyres and as soon as it detects a slip from any of the tyres, it puts a brake on that particular one and transfers all the power to the remaining set of tyres that have more grip left.

Once launched, we expect the Toyota Hilux to be priced from Rs 32 lakh to Rs 36 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It will rival the only pick-up truck left in India, Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
