- The new 2023 Hyundai Verna is confirmed to get ADAS tech
Hyundai has been testing the 2023 Verna for quite some time now. The camouflaged test vehicles have been captured several times. This time, the 2023 Hyundai Verna has been captured with a sunroof atop and a blindspot warning indicator could also be seen on the ORVM of the test vehicle. The ORVM-embedded blind sport monitor confirms the presence of ADAS tech in the upcoming sedan. Apart from this, there are much more changes and updates expected in the upcoming 2023 Verna. Here are all the details.
2023 Hyundai Verna: New Features
The biggest update we expect in the 2023 Hyundai Verna is the addition of ADAS tech. Hyundai already has the Tucson and the newly launched Ioniq 5 electric vehicle that offer ADAS tech in India. Verna will become the third model from the Korean automaker to offer ADAS in India. Honda City Hybrid, the biggest rival of the Hyundai Verna and the best-selling sedan in the segment, already offers ADAS. The ADAS tech in the upcoming Verna could include features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blindspot warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, etc.
After the recently spied test mule, we can confirm that Hyundai will be offering a sunroof in the upcoming Verna, at least on the top trim. Also, Hyundai is expected to update the infotainment system in the upcoming Verna with a much more advanced and large 10.25-inch touchscreen. The next-gen Bluelink-connected car tech and a fully digital large instrument cluster display are some of the other updates we expect in the 2023 Verna. The new 2023 Verna will most probably come with ESP, Traction Control, Hill Hold, and 4 airbags as standard safety features across the variants. The top trim will be offered with 6 airbags, and features like TPMS, front parking sensors, etc.
2023 Hyundai Verna: Powertrain Update
The current generation Verna is offered with 3 engine options i.e. a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5 litre Diesel, and a 1 litre turbo GDi petrol. The new 2023 Verna is expected to retain the 1.5 litre diesel and 1.5 litre NA petrol but the 1 litre turbo petrol will be replaced with a new 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine. On the transmission front, Hyundai will continue to offer the option for a 6-speed manual, 6-speed CVT/IVT, 6-speed torque converter automatic, or a 7-speed DCT.

Verdict: Hyundai Verna use to be the second best-selling sedan in its segment before the arrival of the Skoda Slavia. Also, the new Honda City Hybrid has made the segment more competitive by offering features like ADAS. Therefore, Hyundai Verna truly requires a comprehensive update to regain the lost market share in the segment.
