Maruti's upcoming model has been spied yet again on the roads of Delhi-NCR. Yes, the 2023 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross YTB has been spied while testing on rough roads. The upcoming YTB will be based on the current-gen Baleno premium hatchback. It is expected to offer a more rugged performance and off-road driving-oriented package overall.

2023 Baleno Cross YTB Off-Road
As posted by a user on social media, the test car is seen running on the outskirts of Gurugram. The test driver tried to speed the vehicle through off-road sections and potholes deliberately. Maybe this is a rough road of testing that is seen in the video. Additionally, the car is being driven a bit roughly (with a heavy foot). This can probably mean that the test was being done to ensure the ruggedness of its suspension as well as other components.
Meanwhile, the test car seems to be completely camouflaged like the previous test car spotting. However, look closely and one can quickly notice the bigger alloy wheels. We suspect that it might be based on bigger rim size as well as high profile tyres. This is obvious as the Baleno Cross is destined to be a crossover of a hatchback and an SUV. According to the reports on the internet, the upcoming Baleno Cross will also have a new engine.
Engine & Specifications
It is being reported on the internet repeatedly that the Baleno Cross is based on the Heartect platform. It is the same platform that is seen on the new Vitara Brezza & the Baleno itself. This also means that it might come with the same 1.5-Lt K15C engine with mild & full hybrid tech. However, it will probably be offered along with a new engine as well.
Yes, if we believe the recent reports on social media; a new 1.0-Lt BoosterJet engine will feature on the new Baleno Cross SUV. It is a turbocharged unit that was seen on the (now discontinued) Baleno RS. While there are no further details, we anticipate that it is the same motor with changes done according to the new chassis.
Launch, Price, & Rivals
As the testing phase continues, we hope that Maruti Suzuki will debut the new Baleno Cross in India around Q1 of 2023. As it is based on the Baleno, the pricing of it might remain in the vicinity of Rs 8-13 lakh. Its main rivals in India will be - Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, & Mahindra XUV300.
