2023 Maruti Suzuki WagonR Design & Features
The design of the new WagonR facelift is rather the same as that of the previous car. Slight revisions can be seen all around the body. The front fascia now uses redesigned front grille and front bumper. The headlights and the bonnet creases remain the same. As Suzuki offers the WagonR in Japan in 3 various variants i.e. WagonR, WagonR Custom Z, and the Stingray; all of the models have received slight updates.
There are no major changes to the design as the rear also gets the similarly revamped styling elements. The rear bumper and taillight housings have undergone slight variations. Most of the car remains the same. The interiors of the new facelift are also the same. Suzuki offers the Japan-spec car in 3 different interior theme options depending on the variant customers choose.
The standard WagonR gets a beige colour theme to make the cabin feel airy. Contrary, the Custom Z and the Stingray have an all-black interior theme with piano black and faux-wood touch all around the cabin. The Japan-spec WagonR also gets a centrally-mounted instrument panel. In India, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso gets a similarly placed instrument panel.
The Japan-spec WagonR also gets split foldable rear seats. These seats can completely fold flat. Hence, this makes the WagonR one of the most utility-based vehicles. The facelifted WagonR also gets loads of features. These include the likes of 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, HUD, ADAS, 360-degree parking assist, etc. Although, the Indian model misses out on such crucial features, but we expect the new-gen WagonR will bring these features along when launched. The Custom Z and Stingray models are also equipped with LED lighting and projector headlights as well.
Engine & Specifications
The Japanese WagonR model comes with a 666cc, inline 3-cylinder engine. This engine is also on sale in some other global markets. It is designed specifically to ensure high fuel economy and reliability. The Hybrid variant offers a naturally aspirated engine while the Custom Z and Stingray models come with a turbocharged 666cc engine. The core performance area of this engine is city driving and bumper-to-bumper traffic. Suzuki offers a CVT automatic transmission to deliver the power in the Japenese WagonR.
Interestingly, the global WagonR model comes with options of FWD & AWD. The AWD variant uses the Suzuki ALLGRIP tech which is also seen in the newly introduced Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in India. Safety equipment is also a long list for the international WagonR. It comes with 6 Airbags, ADAS, HUD, EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, Front Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc.

India Launch & Rivals
As the 2023 WagonR goes on sale in Japan and other global markets, the Indian market still has to wait long. We suspect that this new model WagonR will not launch in India anytime before the end of 2023. Upon its launch, the pricing will shoot high because of new technology & added features. The rivals for WagonR in India include - Tata Tiago & Renault Kwid.
