2024 Hyundai Kona: What To Expect?
Recently, some fresh Hyundai Kona images have surfaced online, and we're here to spill the beans. While the Korean carmaker had spilt the beans on powertrain and production details earlier this year, these are the US-spec model pics that have got everyone talking.
Up front, you'll notice a longer and somewhat boxier design, giving it a touch of resemblance to the Creta. Interestingly, the charging port has found a spot at the front, which might strike some as unconventional. The headlights have undergone a split headlamp transformation, with a continuous LED daytime running light stretching across the front and back. Design-wise, the Kona draws inspiration from the parametric design theme of the Ioniq 5, evident in the side profile's creases and sculpted wheel arches. it features active grill shutters that can be closed to aid in cooling the battery when necessary.

And let's not forget about that battery upgrade now boasting 64.8 kWh capacity (a tad bigger than the previous 64 kWh). Hyundai's promising an estimated 418 kilometres of range, which is pretty sweet. If you go for the standard battery, you're still looking at a respectable 197 miles of range. Charging times have also seen some improvements. With 400V Level 3 DC fast charging, you can go from ten to 80 percent state of charge (SoC) in just 43 minutes.
The power output stays the same, with the long-range model's front-axle electric motor providing 201 bhp and 255 Nm of torque, while the standard range version offers 133 bhp and 255 Nm of torque.
Verdict
The new Hyundai Kona Electric has not yet been launched in India, but it is already available in the US. It has been redesigned with improved performance, but the new design may not appeal to everyone. The current Kona Electric in India competes with the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Maruti eVX.
