The upcoming 2024 Swift, expected to launch in 2024, is anticipated to feature a blind spot monitor, as suggested by an illuminated marking on the ORVM (Outside Rear View Mirror) captured in spy pictures. While the international version boasts a comprehensive level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, not all of these features are expected to be included in the India-specific model.
In addition to the blind spot monitor, the 2024 Swift is set to receive various updates, including newly designed LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, reprofiled bumpers, and redesigned alloy wheels. The exterior handles for the rear doors will be repositioned from the C-pillar to the doors. Inside the cabin, drivers can look forward to a larger nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a black and white theme, and a new AC control panel. These enhancements promise to make the 2024 Swift an even more attractive and feature-packed choice for car buyers.
Powertrain
The 2024 Swift is set to feature the new Z12 engine, a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder powerplant replacing the current 1.2-liter 4-cylinder K-series engine. The switch to a 3-cylinder design aims to reduce the vehicle's weight, potentially leading to improved performance and lower emissions. While the global variant may incorporate a 48V strong hybrid system, the Indian version is expected to stick with a conventional internal combustion engine, offering customers a balance between performance and efficiency.
With all that said, it will continue to face tough competition from the likes of the Hyundai i20, but has to save its pie from Micro SUV's like the Exter and Punch.
Verdict
The introduction of a new engine, potentially a hybrid powerplant, in the 2024 Swift holds the promise of attracting a significant number of buyers in the Indian market. The Maruti Swift has already established itself as a popular and beloved hatchback, and these enhancements could further enhance its appeal, making it an even more enticing choice for potential customers.
