We are at the onset of the festive season of this year and so the automobile manufacturers are going all guns blazing. This month, a lot of new cars and bikes will be launched in India and not just mass-market ones but premium vehicles too. German car manufacturer - BMW has just launched the new 2-Series Gran Coupe in the Indian market. The introductory price of the new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe starts at Rs. 39.30 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and it is now the second most affordable Bimmer in India, the most affordable being the BMW X1. Before we begin, let's have a look at its variant-wise prices:
The new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe made its Global Debut last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is the first-ever 2-Series Gran Coupe from the house of Bavarians. The new 2-Series Gran Coupe sports a dynamic design language, well-appointed interiors, compact dimensions with a good practical cabin and BMW's great powertrain option. It measures 4,526 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,420 mm in height and the wheelbase stands at 2,670 mm. Also, this Bimmer has a decent boot space of 430-litres which can be expanded in various ways. All in all, it is a practical family car.

The new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe has been currently launched in India in the 220d variant only. It is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline-four diesel engine. This oil-burner churns out 190 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Talking about performance figures, it can sprint from nought to hundred in just 7.5 seconds while the top speed is rated at 225 kmph. However, unlike most other BMW cars, the 2-Series Gran Coupe is based on BMWs front-wheel-drive (FWD) architecture and the tranny channels the power to the front wheels only.
Also, petrol fans will be happy to know that BMW will also introduce the petrol mills with the 2-Series Gran Coupe but at a later point of time. Now, talking about features, so as it is a BMW, it is loaded with features up to the gills. It gets a very well-appointed cabin and the interior layout resembles most other BMW cars. It gets a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and BMWs iDrive system and we also have a digital driver's display. Also, the new 2-Series Gran Coupe looks sizzling with its slim all-LED headlights, tapering roofline, frameless doors, chrome-embellished BMW's signature kidney grille, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, slim LED taillights and twin exhausts.

Lastly, talking about the price, so the introductory price of the all-new 2020 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe starts at Rs. 39.30 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. The bookings for the new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe are already open. Also, it is locally produced in India at BMW's Chennai facility in Tamil Nadu. Currently, it does not has any direct rival in India. However, it will rival against the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine and the new Audi A3, once they are launched in the Indian market which is expected to happen in the coming months.
