MG Majestor: The premium SUV game in India is about to get a new contender, and it's coming in strong. MG Motor India, backed by JSW Group, is gearing up to introduce the MG Majestor, which is being billed as the country's first D+ segment SUV. With plans to compete directly against segment leaders like the Toyota Fortuner, Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line and Skoda Kodiaq, the Majestor is aiming high and recent sightings of its production-ready model have amplified the buzz among enthusiasts. MG Majestor: Aggression Speaks

New spy shots of the MG Majestor testing on Indian roads confirm it's sticking close to the design showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The SUV carries a muscular profile with a bold and upright stance. At the rear, there's a standout connected LED taillight setup, subtly bulging outward for a three-dimensional look.

A thick roof-mounted spoiler, flat and squared boot gate, and chrome-finished polygonal twin exhausts add flair to the rear. Its side profile offers a tough persona with round wheel arches, tough-looking running boards, and traditional grab-type door handles. The slightly dropping roofline complements the massive glass area, especially around the second row, indicating a spacious and well-lit cabin.

Could Be A Potent Off-roader

The Majestor's ride height is one of its key talking points. While official ground clearance figures haven't been confirmed yet, early visuals suggest it could beat even the MG Gloster's already impressive 210 mm clearance. If MG decides to surpass the Fortuner's 225 mm mark, itll position the Majestor as one of the most terrain-capable full-size SUVs in its class.

MG Majestor: Front Fascia

The front fascia is as imposing as it gets, a vertically stacked LED headlamps, slim DRLs mounted on top, and a massive front grille housing a prominent MG logo. A rugged bumper layout, a sharply contoured bonnet, and darkened A, B, and C pillars (as seen in the concept) collectively offer a sporty yet authoritative look.

Feature-Rich Interior

Inside the cabin, MG appears to be focusing on a balance between premium comfort and intelligent features. A freestanding 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a fully digital driver's display, and ventilated, heated seats are just the tip of the iceberg.

The driver's seat is likely to feature a massage function, and passengers can expect top-tier amenities like:

Panoramic sunroof
Wireless charging pad
Multi-zone climate control
High-end audio system
Powered tailgate

All of this is expected to be integrated within a spacious and well-thought-out cabin layout.

MG Majestor: Safety and Tech

The MG Majestor won't cut corners when it comes to safety. The SUV will come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a long list of safety tech, including:

Over six airbags
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Hill hold and hill descent control
Traction control
Electronic parking brake
360-degree surround-view camera
Driver fatigue detection system
Roll-over prevention system

MG Majestor: Powertrain

Underneath all that brawn, the Majestor is expected to draw power from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, already proven in the MG Gloster lineup. The engine produces 216 hp and 479 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Adding to its off-road credibility, the SUV will reportedly feature a 4x4 drivetrain with three locking differentials - front, centre, and rear, making it more than just a city cruiser.

Verdict

With the Majestor, MG isn't just launching a new SUV - the brand is attempting to create a whole new segment. The D+ tag isn't just marketing jargon; it's a signal that the brand wants to blur the lines between full-size rugged SUVs and luxury-laden urban machines.

As the production-ready model continues testing, a launch seems imminent. If MG plays its cards right on pricing and variants, the Majestor could become a serious disruptor in the Indian SUV landscape.
