BYD (Build Your Dreams) has showcased its upcoming electric sedan for the Indian market. The BYD Seal electric sedan has been showed in the 2023 Auto Expo. The brand has confirmed the launch of the Seal electric sedan in India in Q4 2023. The upcoming BYD Seal EV will be brand's third electric vehicle in the Indian market after the e6 & Atto 3.

BYD Seal Electric Sedan Design
In terms of appearance, the sedan's bonnet is perfectly blended with a sharp pair of LED headlamps that resemble the eyes of an aquatic species. The lower part features unique air curtains as well as a conspicuous front splitter.The electric sedan has a slightly sloping roofline on the sides, giving some suggestions of a couple-like appearance, dual creases running across the length and flush door handles. The rear profile gets a substantial air curtains, a dynamic rear diffuser, and a single-unit connected tail lamp.
BYD Seal Electric Sedan Features
The 15.6-inch rotating infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display remain the highlights of the electric sedan's interiors. The inside of the electric vehicle features a diamond-shaped gear selector level, linked air-conditioning vents, and blue-themed upholstery.
BYD Seal Electric Sedan Platform & Powertrain
The BYD Seal sedan will boast a minimalistic design language and will boast BYD's born EV platform (e-Platform 3.0) and revolutionary ultra-safe Blade Battery. BYD Seal will be the first to use BYD's CTB (cell to body) technology. The CTB technology allows battery to be integrated into the body (battery becomes an integrated component of the chassis), substantially improving the vehicle safety, stability, handling, and performance.

In the international market, the Seal is available with two battery packs: 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. According to the CLTC (China Light Duty Vehicle Testing Cycle), the smaller battery pack has a claimed range of 550 kilometres, while the larger one has a range of up to 700 kilometres. The smaller battery pack has a charging capacity of up to 110 kWh, while the larger one has a charging capability of 150 kWh. We can expect the log range AWD drivetrain to be offered in India. This combination produces 312 bhp of power and 360 Nm of peak torque.
Verdict: The BYD Seal EV will compete with the recently announced Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV. The price is likely to be between Rs 45-50 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV, which is available in a variety of powertrain configurations, could be a worthwhile debut for the Indian market.
