French carmaker Citroen is making its place in the Indian Car market. With a 3-row SUV, christened the C3 Aircross as confirmed recently, it currently gains traction from its Citroen C3. With the updated BS6 Phase 2 norms, this car is already complaint, but only the Normal Petrol variant. However, The 1.2-liter Turbo variant seems to have been phased out. It has been delisted from its website.
Let's look at what the clear picture is about this particular car from Citroen.
Citroen C3 1.2-Litre Turbo Variant Discontinued?
The transition to the updated stricter emission norms is only facilitated for the normal petrol variant. The updation of the turbo variant took the back seat, and as a result, it has been currently axed from the line-up. Now, the sole powertrain option is the 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder mill producing 82 PS power with a peak torque of 115 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The turbo going out can be attributed to the profit loss statement of the company.
Since it is not listed with the updated normal petrol variant as of now, it might have been silently pulled off the website. However, the turbo could return with the 3-row Aircross, which is nearing its launch on April 27.
The Electric Avatar- Citroen eC3
The eC3 is the all-electric transformer of the Citroen C3. It is basically the same C3 but with an electric heart. The motor is 42 kW with a 29.2 kWh battery that claims a range of 320 km. The peak torque stands at 143 Nm. However, the real-world range depends on plenty of factors like the driving style, traffic conditions, and the terrain to name a few.
VERDICT- The C3 is the hope and life of Citroen in the Indian market till more products make it to the showrooms. And it is a promising product as well, but turbo petrol axing is a conscious decision by the company. The upcoming C3 Aircross 3-row car will make its position a little more concrete than now.
