Earlier, it was confirmed by the brand itself that an EV for India is under development and will launch in the year 2023. Citroen eC3: What We Know?
The first official teaser revealed the final name of the so-called C3-based EV. Named eC3, the teaser of the all-electric hatch confirms that more details will be revealed soon. This in a way can be attributed to the pre-launch marketing strategy to build up the hype, leading to the final launch. As per some media reports, the carmaker could likely unveil the vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo followed by its market launch soon after.
Talking about the vehicle, we have already come across multiple spy images of the test car. In terms of exterior design, it will largely resemble the regular C3, however, we expect some subtle EV-specific changes here and there in the final production model. The interiors will also remain more or less the same, with some minor alterations to the instrument cluster and centre console.
The Citroen C3 EV is expected to be based on the eCMP platform. Under the hood, we expect Citroen to equip the new EV will at least a 30 kWh plus battery pack, giving out a claimed range of around 300-350 kilometres on a single charge. As the upcoming EV will stack up against the Tata Tiago EV, the pricing will likely be in a similar ballpark of Rs. 10-12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict: Citroen's decision to bring the eC3 to India as its third product will definitely help the brand in giving an early start in the electric vehicle segment. The performance and reliability of the eC3 EV will be a major factor to consider, keeping in mind the limited sales and service network of the French brand. The pricing will also play an important role in determining the product's performance, however, local manufacturing will help to keep the price tag attractive.
