Better Dimensions
The Ford Everest sold in the international markets boasts bigger dimensions as compared to its primary rival the Toyota Fortuner. The one that is destined to come to India is expected to boast the same dimensions as the international version.
Dimensions | Ford Everest | Toyota Fortuner |
Length (mm) | 4,914 | 4,795 |

Multiple-Engine Options
However, the Toyota Fortuner also comes with two engine options, a 2.8-litre diesel engine and a 2.7-litre turbo petrol engine. The Ford Everest on the other hand comes with diesel engine options only but it packs more punch as it offers a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine and a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. Let's have a look at the specs of both below.
Specifications | Ford Everest | Toyota Fortuner |
Engine | 2.0-L Turbo Diesel / 2.0-L Bi-Turbo Diesel | 2.8-L Diesel / 2.7-L Turbo Petrol |
Power | 170 PS / 210 PS | 204 PS / 166 PS |
Torque | 405 Nm / 500 Nm | 420 Nm, 500 Nm / 245 Nm |

Drivetrain | 4X2 / 4X4 | 2WD / 4WD |
On paper, the Fortuner seems to offer a bigger engine with more power. However, if we look at the diesel engine options of both cars, the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo in Everest is a bit more powerful and offers an equal amount of Torque than the Fortuner. The advantage of the Fortuner is it offers a petrol engine as an option. But the Ford Everest's 10-speed AT transmission with the bi-turbo engine will offer better efficiency than the Fortuner.

The Fortuner comes with 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, 6 speakers, dual-zone climate control, Toyota Connect features, and powered seats among other features.

Better Ride & Handling On Offer
The Toyota Fortuner is known for its robust engine performance and a great stance on the road. However, the Fortuner lacks the dynamism and the ride quality is not that plushy which can offer complete comfort on the roads. It rolls on 265/65 R17 (2WD]) and 265/60 R18 (4WD) tires and comes fitted with a double-wishbone front suspension and a 4-link with coil spring rear suspension setup. Also, the steering of the Fortuner feels a bit heavy on the move.
On the other hand, the Ford Everest offers a more comfortable and planted ride quality. It comes with 255/65 R18 and 255/55 R20 wheel sizes which offers a more pliant ride. The front of the Everest is fitted with a double wishbone with coil spring and anti-roll bar suspension while the rear gets coil spring with Watt's link and anti-roll bar. The overall ride and comfort on the Everest in superior and it also offers a lighter steering response which makes lane filtering an easy job.
