Hyundai currently provides a CNG powertrain for the Grand i10 Nios & Aura. The company has tested CNG technology in Venue and Alcazar in the past. It now appears that the company intends to provide CNG variants of its best-selling SUV Creta. A report claims that Hyundai will pair a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a CNG drivetrain. The test mule for the Kia Carens CNG spotted with the same powerplant. Confirmation came in the form of its registration sticker, which was attached to the back quarter glass panel. It reveals that the test mule's 1.4-liter GDi turbocharged gasoline engine was connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. It may be expected that the Creta CNG will have the same arrangement.

A 1.5-liter normally aspirated engine and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine are available in the Creta's base petrol configuration. When coupled with a 7-speed DCT transmission, the 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine can generate 138 bhp of output and 242 Nm of maximum torque.

The power and torque figures for the Creta's CNG powertrain will be rather modest when compared to the petrol engine. The introduction of the Hyundai Creta CNG will aid the company in keeping its position in the premium market.
