Electric Vehicles are the new trend for the automotive industry since they are easy to maintain and cheaper on the pocket too. And with this trend, Hyundai has now confirmed that they will bring a second EV to the Indian market by 2022 which will rival the Tata Nexon EV.
This upcoming EV from Hyundai will be built in India thus reducing the production costs. Unlike the Kona which crosses Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) mark, this EV will surely be priced on an edge with the Tata Nexon electric.
When the EV will come into production mode then Hyundai claims that they are aiming a driving range anywhere between 200 - 300 km which is an ideal for city or mild highway usage. The main agenda for Hyundai is to bring an electric vehicle that cuts the Nexon EV price which is at Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) or even the Haima which will launch an electric vehicle by 2021 which will be under Rs 10 lakh.
Hyundai sees a good amount of sales with its electric debutant, Kona in the Indian markets. It is a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) and till now the car has found 331 happy buyers all across India. The electric SUV competes with the MG ZS EV and the latter undercuts the Kona prices by Rs 2.70 lakh.
The ZS EV not only provides a plethora of features but is also good to drive in city conditions. Hyundai aims to get a feature-rich electric SUV within a budget which will shift people's focus towards electrification. Hyundai also said that this electric vehicle will be a made in India, made for India product which will be also exported globally where it fits the market requirements.
