Kia India has recently registered the new upcoming MPV for the Indian market. To be named the Carens, the new upcoming Kia MPV will take on the other six and seven-seater MPVs in the Indian market. The car, which is expected to share its powertrain options with the Kia Seltos, will be launched in the Indian market in the coming few months and has been internally codenamed as the KY. While not a lot is known about the upcoming Kia Carens, here is a quick Kia Carens Vs Maruti Ertiga based on what we know so far.
Kia Carens Vs Maruti Ertiga - Exterior Design
The Kia Carens will feature a boxy and imposing design language along with a dominating tiger-nose grille upfront and LED headlamps. The car is expected to be as long and wide as the Hyundai Alcazar will feature dual-tone wheels in addition to other premium additions like chrome door handles. We may also see LED taillights and LED foglamps.

The Eritga on the other hand gets a more subtle design language and features a large chrome grille in the centre and large projector headlamps. In addition to this, it also gets a bold bumper design while the alloys wheels are simple and subtle. At the rear, it does get slightly busy and has LED tail lights with a large chrome strip in the centre.

Kia Carens Vs Maruti Ertiga - Specs
Two petrol engines options are expected to be on offer with the Kia Carens. These include the naturally aspirated 1.5-L petrol and the 1.4-L turbocharged TGDi motor. Likewise, a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox is expected to come mated to these engines. The diesel versions on the other hand will get the same 1.5-L unit that we saw on other cars like the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. This engine be will be available with a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. All these engines not only offer impressive performance but in addition to this, also offer great refinement and NVH levels.

The Ertiga on the other hand is powered by a single-engine option. The 1.5-L K15B petrol motor powering the Ertiga can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox and boasts supreme long-term reliability. The buyers can also opt for the CNG version of this car. However, it is worth noting that no diesel engine is on offer.

Kia Carens Vs Maruti Ertiga - Features
On the features front, the Kia Carens will offer a large sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, wireless charging, front-seat ventilation, rear defogger, LED headlamps, push-button start, and many other features like cruise control and connected car tech.
The Maruti Ertiga on the other hand too offers a similar features list but does miss out on a sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging pad, air purifier, etc. The car however is backed by dependable after-sales support and offers affordable long term maintenance and superior parts support.
