Kia Syros; Things To Know And Details
As per an earlier teaser, the Syros will feature a more boxier, upright stance, but with compact dimensions, suggesting that the focus will be on the rear-seat comfort and space.
In terms of design, the Syros will feature certain elements inspired by the Carnival and the EV9. From the teaser screenshots, we can notice a sleek, vertically-stacked LED headlight setup with DRLs placed on the side. The bonnet and nose treatment appears similar to what we have seen on the Carnival. However, the grille is likely to be a much slimmer unit.
The side profile of the Syros will be clean and clutter-free, and the flush-fitting door handles are going to be a segment-first. The B-pillar treatment will also remind you of the Skoda Yeti, with a very distinct mass-breaker. We can also expect sleek, vertical tail-lights with a connecting strip, along with a tailgate that could bear traces of the EV9.
Not much is known about the features list, but we can expect the Syros to come with an ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, a Bose sound system, a blended touch-screen infotainment system, wireless smartphone charging, and wired connectivity. The teaser video also heavily implies the possibility of a panoramic sunroof.
There are no technical or powertrain details available at the moment, but the Syros is highly likely to come with both combustion and EV powertrain options, with the EV likely to join a little later.
In terms of the combustion powertrain, the Syros could well be sharing the same trio of options as the Sonet; a 1.2-litre nat-asp petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel, with various transmission options. The EV version could feature smaller capacity battery packs and motors than the Carens EV.
Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Syros SUV, as more details are expected to unfold in the coming days!

Verdict
The Syros should prove to be a great alternative for someone looking to buy a compact SUV with comfort and a premium-looking design. With a focus on rear-seat space and comfort, the Syros could well work for those who find the current crop of compact SUVs cramped, but also don't want to move to a bigger segment just yet.
