The Lord Alto needs no introduction, as even those with little knowledge of cars know the name Maruti Alto. Currently in its third generation, the Alto K10 CNG comes in two variants: LXi (Rs 5.74 lakh) and VXi (Rs 5.96 lakh). Maruti claims its fuel efficiency to be 33.85 km/kg. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso - Starting At 5.91 Lakh
The second hatchback on the list is the S-Presso, which is quite similar to the Alto K10 but offers more space and a slightly SUV-like stance. According to Maruti Suzuki, it achieves a mileage of 32.73 km/kg and starts at Rs 5.91 lakh for the LXi variant. The second option is the VXi CNG, which costs Rs 6.11 lakh. In terms of its powertrain, it features the same K10C CNG engine used in the Alto K10.
Tata Tiago - Starting At 5.99 Lakh
Now, this is the most dynamic hatchback here, with prices starting at Rs 5.99 lakh and going up to Rs 8.75 lakh. It is also the first car on the list to offer a 5-speed AMT and features twin-cylinder technology, which leaves a large space for luggage. The Tiago iCNG is available in a total of 12 variants, and they offer almost the same level of features as the regular model. Regarding mileage, Tata hasn't posted any claimed figures, but achieving over 25 km/kg is a piece of cake in this vehicle, even with an AMT.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R - Starting At 6.44 Lakh
One of the best-selling cars of all time, the Wagon R, the original tall-boy CNG version, starts at Rs 6.44 lakh for the LXi variant. The VXi costs Rs 6.89 lakh, and Maruti claims its mileage to be 33.47 km/kg. This is now the fourth car on the list to feature the same 1.0L petrol engine. If you wish to buy a spacious, low-maintenance vehicle with evergreen looks, there is no better option than the Wagon R.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio - Starting At 6.73 Lakh
The Maruti Celerio has lost its charm in the last 2-3 years, as people have shifted towards compact SUVs. This is surprising, as there was once a time when people had to wait at least a year to get a Celerio. Additionally, it is the most fuel-efficient CNG car on sale in India, with a mileage of 35.60 km/kg.
This figure is better than that of some commuter and entry-level motorcycles in the country. Talking about its price, the VXi CNG variant costs Rs 6.73 lakh, and it is the only variant available for sale.
Tata Altroz - Starting At 7.45 Lakh
The first premium hatchback on the list, the Tata Altroz iCNG, starts at Rs 7.45 lakh ex-showroom, while the top variant costs Rs 10.79 lakh. This car also comes with twin-cylinder technology; however, unlike the Tiago, there is no automatic transmission on offer. Additionally, it features a 1.2L petrol engine that produces 73.5 PS and 103 Nm of torque. Talking about mileage, it can easily achieve 20 to 22 km/kg with a light foot.
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS - Starting At 7.75 Lakh

The most expensive variant costs Rs 8.30 lakh.
Maruti Swift - Starting At 8.20 Lakh
The fourth-generation Swift CNG model was recently launched, and the official figures created a stir in the automotive market, as the Swift CNG achieves 32.85 km/kg of mileage. In terms of the engine, it features a 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-Series engine that produces 69 PS and 101.8 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Even without CNG, the all-new Swift is highly efficient, claiming 24.8 km/l of mileage.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno - Starting At 8.40 Lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno needs no introduction. It is fair to say that India runs on Baleno wheels, and its 1.2L K-Series engine is efficient enough to easily achieve a mileage of 22 to 24 km/l. However, with a factory-fitted CNG, the efficiency reaches a whole new level. According to the official Maruti website, the Baleno CNG achieves an average of 30.06 km/kg, and it comes in just two variants: Delta CNG (Rs 8.40 lakh) and Zeta CNG (Rs 9.33 lakh).
