KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Mahindra XUV.e8's new spy shots emerge
- Reveals striking new details
- While the exterior follows the XUV700's footsteps, interior heads out in a different direction
Just a few days back, on the occasion of World EV Day, Mahindra teased its new upcoming electric range of SUVs. While it was the first time a glimpse of BE.05, XUV.e8, and XUV.e9 came out together, where the highlight was a dashboard unit displaying speeds upwards of 200 kmph. However, which one clocked the speed wasn't clear, but it meant business and that was very well-conversed.
Fast forward, the Mahindra XUV.e8 has been spotted in full camo in the parking, where it exudes more intricate details about what is to come. Let's look at the interior and exterior details, with an interesting observation.
Mahindra XUV.e8: Exterior Updates
The XUV.e8 test prototype captured in these spy shots appears to showcase body panels and an interior design that appears nearly production-ready. Although the overall body structure and cabin resemble the XUV700, notable stylistic revisions are evident at the front end.

The spy shots, despite the fully covered bodyshell and alloy wheel design, offer glimpses of the forthcoming XUV.e8's styling, which appears to stay faithful to the concept introduced by Mahindra last year. A standout feature of the XUV.e8 is its unique front fascia, characterized by a continuous LED light bar spanning the entire width and extending vertically into the corners of the bumper.
The XUV.e8 will feature a brand-new, fully sealed front grille, accompanied by redesigned headlamps. It retains flush door handles while showcasing an updated alloy wheel design. In the rear, design alterations appear to be relatively subtle. The primary enhancement over the standard XUV700's aesthetics includes the incorporation of a connected LED light bar and a fresh rear bumper design.
Mahindra XUV.e8 Interior Resembles Something
While the exterior exudes a familiarity within the house, the interior draws inspiration from across the table. These spy shots offer an exclusive look at the interior, which has not been previously revealed. Much like the exterior, the XUV.e8's interior appears to be in an advanced stage of development, nearing production readiness.
The most noteworthy change is the introduction of a new flat-bottom steering wheel featuring a two-spoke design, reminiscent of the recently launched Nexon facelift. The steering boss appears to have a glossy black finish, possibly with an illuminated logo, similar to the updated Nexon. The dashboard design appears to be a fresh departure, particularly in the top half. It accommodates not just one, but three horizontally oriented screens. The screen behind the steering wheel serves as the digital driver's display, the central one handles infotainment functions, and the third screen, dedicated to the passenger, offers various vehicle details and additional information.
When it comes to performance, the Mahindra XUV.e8 is anticipated to offer two battery pack choices. The first option is a 60-kWh battery pack, providing a range of approximately 400 km, while the second option is an 80-kWh version, offering a range of about 500 km. Buyers will have the flexibility to choose between single and dual motor configurations.
Verdict
The auto industry is now tiling fast towards a parallel EV space. While every carmaker is introducing dedicated EV strategy, Mahindra is no different. While it currently only offers the XUV400 EV, the upcoming born-electric range is its proper first bet into the born EV space, and by the looks of it, is sure to create ripples in the market when launched.
