Mahindra XUV Electric Steering Wheel Design - Futuristic Yet Practical
As visible in the design patent image, this new steering wheel has a radical design. The octagonal shape of the steering is supported by two-spoked only. A similar design was seen on the latest Tata cars like the updated Nexon. However, unlike Tata, Mahindra plans to introduce a proper screen in the middle of the two spokes. This screen could act as a semi-infotainment for the driver; displaying crucial info on the go.
A similar steering wheel design was seen in the latest spy shots of the Mahindra BE.05 EV. The car was spotted testing with a very futuristic cabin and had the same steering wheel with embedded pneumatic touch controls. Now we know that Mahindra plans to introduce segment-first features and design language on its EV lineup, the steering wheel could act as a source of attraction among future buyers.
Moreover, the comfort and ergonomics of the driver are also going to be improved by its octagonal design. The flat bottom would help in easy ingress and egress for the drivers. Also, the top-flat design would help the drivers to easily see the digital console.
