Mahindra will launch its first electric SUV in the Indian market in the form of the XUV300 EV. The vehicle is currently under development and will be revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo. The all-new car, which will be showcased in the production guise will launch in the Indian market in 2021.
The Mahindra XUV300 EV will look similar to the regular model of the SUV apart from a few contrasting highlights on the body that will make it look different. Also, expect the SUV to get updated grille and alloy wheels.
Details about the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 EV are still scarce, but since it will take on the likes of Tata Nexon EV in the Indian market, we can safely assume that it will coffer a range of around 300 km, which is decent. The XUV300 will get a 40 kWh battery pack that will power a 130 PS generating electric motor. Mahindra will launch two different variants of the XUV300 EV. One of the models will be high performance while the other will be low-cost and will offer a lower range and power. This variant will be priced aggressively in the market to attract buyers.
Internally, the Mahindra XUV300 EV is known as the S210. Since it will enter the market quite late, the vehicle will come equipped with a lot of technologies. To start with, we can expect the vehicle to get a DC fast charger, which will allow the owners to quick charge the vehicle without spending much time. To ensure that the car can be charged at home and office too, an AC charging system will be available also.
The entry-level Mahindra XUV300 EV is expected to get a price tag of around Rs 17 lakhs, which will put it on par with the Tata Nexon EV. Currently, there is only the Hyundai Kona E-SUV available in the Indian market, but soon MG Motors will launch the ZS EV. Soon after, the Nexon EV will be launched in the segment. The XUV300 will go on sale in 2021.
