Mahindra XUV700 EV Coupe To Be RWD Only; Aimed At A Different Section Of Buyers
Following the launch of the BE.05, Mahindra is set to introduce the XUV.e9. This electric coupe is a stylish and practical SUV designed for executives seeking a blend of spaciousness, comfort, and elegance. And while this all is said and done, the XUV.e9 will offer a powertrain set-up aimed at this section only, and could only come with an RWD set-up.
Similar to the BE.05, the XUV.e9 is expected to feature a rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain, catering to the executive market. Inside, the XUV700 EV coupe will introduce a new three-screen display setup, including a dedicated screen for the front passenger as papped in the previous spy shots. These 12.3-inch screens will feature a 1920x720 display, Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive (LOCA) bonding, and an Oleophobic (anti-smudge) coating, as showcased by Mahindra back in August 2023.
The Mahindra XUV700 EV Coupe electric SUV will feature a sleek coupe styling with a sloping roofline and connected LED tail lamps at the rear. The front end will boast a bold design with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and an aggressive bumper. The side profile will be accentuated by flush door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels, completing the sporty look.

Battery And Range Details
The Mahindra XUV.e9 will be built on Mahindra's INGLO platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles. It is expected to offer both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. The XUV.e9 is likely to be equipped with a 75-80 kWh battery pack, providing a range of around 600 kilometers on a single charge.
Verdict
The born electric range of Mahindra is aimed at getting the right comibation of platform, powertrain, battery, and features in whatever segment they target. While the EVs do look promising on paper and also on the roads as captured in previous spy shots, the volatality in the EV space with the demand and the subsidy schemes, it remains to be seen if it can take off like they expected. As for me, I personally think that it can very much leave an impact owing to its legacy with SUVs, even though the XUV400 could not ruffle any feathers.
