In the Indian SUV market, as the new age compact sub 4m SUVs are getting an extensive feature list and added gizmos, they end up inching in the category of the Mid-size SUV price bracket. In this case, the top spec Maruti Vitara Brezza ZXI+ variant costs Rs 9.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) and it is the same amount you would be paying for the base version of the 2020 Hyundai Creta petrol. We have done some math and prepared Maruti Brezza ZXI+ Vs Hyundai Creta EX comparison to give you the answer of the big Rs 9.99 lakh Question.
Maruti Brezza Vs Hyundai Creta Dimensions
Maruti Vitara Brezza is a Sub-four-meter SUV and competes with cars like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport, etc. These compact SUVs get a tax benefit of being under 4 metres in length but the Hyundai Creta is longer than 4-metres; 4300mm to be precise and it gives you more space on the inside and higher road presence. Surprisingly, both the Brezza and the Creta are exactly the same in terms of width at 1790mm and the Brezza is taller by 5mm as compared the Creta which measures 1635mm in height. Hyundai Creta is benefitted with a longer wheelbase of 2610mm as compared to 2500mm on the Brezza which means more space inside for five large adults. You can carry 433 litres in the boot of the Creta but Brezza also gets a respectable 328 litres of boot space. Surprisingly, the Brezza here, being the top spec ZXI+ trim gets wider tyres.
Maruti Brezza Vs Hyundai Creta Engines
As we all know, Maruti Vitara Brezza now only gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine which churns out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed AT. We are bidding the manual variant as the Creta doesn't get automatic in the EX variant. Hyundai Creta also gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine which churns out higher figures of 115 PS and 144 Nm. Further, the Creta benefits here by offering a 6-speed gearbox and inspite of higher output, is almost as efficient as the Brezza. Nice work there Hyundai!

Maruti Brezza Vs Hyundai Creta EX Features
This is one of the most important parameters here - buy a smaller but fully loaded SUV or compromise with features but get a larger vehicle? But while making the sheet below, we were surprised to see the Creta EX being kitted with decent features. Taking about the Brezza first, it gets LED headlights, lovely machine-cut 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple Car Play and reverse parking camera, an important cruise control, auto headlight and wipers, smart keyless entry with push button start, automatic climate control and some other cool features.
However, as we said above, Hyundai has plonked in some nifty features even in the base variants of the Creta. Hyundai Creta EX gets projector headlamps with DRLs, a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, basic keyless entry, electric ORVMs, very useful rear AC vents, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a cooled glove box and even Arkamys sound system. Both the cars offer safety features like rear parking sensors, speed alert, seatbelt reminders, ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard. Not bad Hyundai, not bad!
Verdict
Both the cars are fairly equipped but Brezza definitely boasts with some cool features despite being a small car. We love the peppy motor, useful add-ons and Maruti's legendary long term reliability factor. The new 2020 Creta gets an obvious advantage by offering more space inside and higher road presence too. In the end, it boils down to your priorities, whether you need a featured-packed sub-compact SUV or a mid-size SUV with an upmarket feel and more space with a compromise on some features. But one thing is for sure, you won't be wrong with any of these as both the Brezza and Creta are very promising and popular cars - infact they are the segment leaders among their rivals!
